Sometimes Change is Good || Raleigh, NC Family Photographer

Drumroll please…
Dear sweet amazing friends, I am so thrilled and happy to welcome you to the official and newly redesigned Carrie Gilliam dot Com.

Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting to say this? Or type this, I should say. Earlier this year, I decided to make some changes to my business, to focus the scope of my business a bit.  You see, as a self-taught photographer, it’s taken me a long time to learn to find my voice.  I’ve dabbled in this and dabbled in that.  But as a business owner AND a family woman, I’ve come to learn that my time is so very limited.  While I wish there were two of me, sometimes, the truth is there’s only one.  And in order to successfully be a wife, mother, friend, and photographer, finding my niche has become necessary.

Years ago, a photographer I look up to named Susan Keller, encouraged me to sit down and go through my images and pick out the ones that spoke to my heart the deepest.  She said if I took the time to compile a collection of those photos and analyze them, I’d likely see a pattern.  Whatever pattern I saw would tell me what my heart longs to photograph.  Boy, was she right.  I’ve used this prompt multiple times throughout the last several years and each time, two things are clear.  I LOVE to photograph real life and I LOVE to photograph families.

Several months ago I announced that I was going to narrow my business and focus exclusively on the element of family.  I’m booking sessions that are centered around family and family life.  This includes couples, parents & children, extended families, maternity, newborn, and high-school seniors.  I’m not saying I won’t throw in the occasional corporate headshot in the mix, but the focus of Carrie Gilliam Photography, LLC is officially on family photography and I couldn’t be happier about it.  And just to add emphasis, my website has been completely redone to show off my family portfolio.  My sweet friend Anna and I have been working tirelessly to create a unique space on the world-wide web that reflects my heart for what I do … and by golly, I believe we’ve done it.  So again, I say, “Welcome to the new www.carriegilliam.com!” I hope you’ll take some time to browse around and enjoy my work.  While you browse, if you’re inspired to think about doing your own family session, drop me a line (here) and we can chat about  bringing that to fruition.  I’m telling you, there’s something special about seeing the magic of your family loving on one another in printed form!

Oh…and just in case you’re curious…I brought my original announcement post over from my old website for reference.  If you’ve got a minute, give it a read.

Again, I’m thrilled to continue serving the families of NC and I’m equally thrilled you’re here to see my work!  Enjoy!
